October has been a special month at Outlook Community Centre, filled with events that celebrate connection, community and care. Two highlights included our annual National Carers Week morning tea and a Victorian Seniors Festival dementia-friendly games day, both drawing strong attendance and wonderful engagement from the local community.

Carers Morning Tea

Recognising those who care

Held on 15 October and generously supported by Carers Victoria, our annual carers morning tea is part of National Carers Week – a time to recognise and celebrate Australia’s three million unpaid carers.

More than 60 guests joined us for a morning of entertainment, guest speakers and a delicious high tea. Attendees were also treated to complimentary neck and shoulder massages, thanks to our friends at Your Body Hub, Officer.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the important role carers play in our community and to say thank you for the care, compassion and support they provide every day.

Outlook Community Centre hosts a regular carers group, meeting on the first Thursday of each month from 10am to 12pm. The group offers connection, support and a safe space to share experiences.
To join, contact us on 1300 617 649, visit our events page, or drop in at 24 Toomuc Valley Road, Pakenham.

Dementia-Friendly Games Day

Laughter, connection and fun

There was plenty of laughter at Outlook last Tuesday when we held a Dementia Friendly Games Day as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.

Our Forget Me Not Café participants, along with other members of the community, enjoyed a relaxed morning of games, conversation and good company, even getting into spooky season by celebrating an early Halloween theme!

The morning was filled with quizzes, bingo, card games, skittles and, of course, chocolates for the winners, plus plenty of delicious food and coffee. Thank you to Cardinia Shire Council for partnering with us to make this wonderful event possible.
