Women Leading the Way at Outlook

Empowering women at every level brings fresh ideas, broader perspectives and stronger outcomes for the people who choose to work at Outlook Australia, and the communities we work with. – Daniel Findley, CEO

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women leading the way at Outlook Australia – driving change, sustainability, innovation and inclusion across all levels of our organisation.

Leading with Vision
Women play pivotal roles in shaping Outlook Australia’s future across our social enterprise and community services divisions. From managing diverse teams to forging partnerships that deliver impact, their leadership embodies resilience, innovation and commitment to more inclusive and sustainable communities.

Here at Outlook, we are proud that our Senior Leadership Team comprises of 50% female leaders, together with 50% of our Operational Leadership Team.

Leaders like Kellie Sharp, who has set a benchmark for community engagement and sustainability in our reuse markets, or Hazel McCann, who has strengthened relationships with our homecare clients and referral partners, showcase the transformative power of women in leadership. So too does Emily Walton, who leads with the utmost patience and care to uphold the dignity and agency of our NDIS participants in Victoria. Their contributions not only enhance our services but create a ripple effect of positive change across the communities we serve.

Driving Change and Breaking Barriers
Outlook Australia is proud to champion gender equality in every sense. We are committed to addressing gender pay gaps, redefining traditional gender roles, and fostering an inclusive workplace where every employee feels valued and empowered. Here at Outlook, around 35% of women are employed in historically male-dominated roles and industries such as landfill operations, forklift, excavator and heavy machinery operators, resource recovery and senior & executive management roles.

Women like Lydia Graffen, who brings expertise and innovation to our waste management partnerships, exemplify how inclusive leadership can elevate our mission. Similarly, the enthusiasm and forward-thinking approach of women like Lori Giles, who has been instrumental in forging effective partnerships and driving measurable growth and impact across Queensland.

Inclusion at the Core
At Outlook, inclusion isn’t just a buzz word, it’s our vision. We are proud to foster a workplace that supports gender diversity and celebrates the contributions of women at all levels. By challenging stereotypes and promoting opportunities for leadership, we empower women to lead confidently while inspiring future generations.

Outlook Executive for People and Culture, Nicole Hee, is at the forefront of the organisation’s equity in action philosophy, “Gender diversity is more than a policy; it shapes who we are. We proudly live it and embed it into what we do because we know that true inclusion drives innovation, creativity, strength and success. We recognise and value the benefits that diversity brings to build a more resilient and dynamic workplace.”

This International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our dedication to building an equitable future where women continue to lead, inspire and innovate. To all the women at Outlook Australia and beyond: thank you for the incredible impact you make every day.

Together, we can continue to create a world where gender is never a barrier to opportunity, and inclusion is a foundation for success.

Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at Outlook Australia!
