Outlook Expands CHSP Services to Central Coast, Creating Jobs & Boosting Community Support
Outlook Australia is set to enhance its domestic support services on the New South Wales Central Coast through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) after securing funding from the Commonwealth Government. This development aligns with Outlook Australia’s recently finalised Strategic Plan for 2024-2030, which sets a bold goal of increasing the organisation’s impact tenfold over the next six years.
The CHSP provides aged care domestic support to community members to help them stay at home and continue to live as independently as possible. Accuro Homecare is a well-known and respected name in the area, having supported older residents with their homecare and domestic support needs for 20 years. With Outlook’s acquisition of Accuro Homecare in October 2022, our team on the Central Coast has continued to develop services and supports to help their clients thrive. The announcement of this significant funding boost under the CHSP is a welcome news and will allow Outlook Australia to further increase its support for some of the region’s most vulnerable residents.
As people age, one of the biggest challenges they face is the loss of independence. Many want to stay in their homes, where they feel safe and comfortable, and are proud of the lives they have built. However, without access to domestic support and homecare services, older individuals and couples are at a much higher risk of losing their independence and being moved into residential care.
A total of 1.7 million has been announced for the current financial year. This equates to over 26,000 hours of domestic support to enhance the independence and dignity of Central Coast residents who receive little or no assistance.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to make an even bigger difference,” said Outlook Executive for Community and Quality, Travis van den Berg. “The excitement is real, but so is the responsibility. We’re committed to delivering all 26,666 hours of domestic support at the highest levels of quality and effectiveness.”
According to data gathered by Seek.com.au from 2020 to 2022, disability support worker and support worker are the two jobs that create the highest sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in Australia, with purpose and sense of belonging identified as the biggest drivers of job satisfaction. Aside from increasing Outlook’s local service capacity by approximately 40% in the coming months.
This funding is expected to create around 22 community support jobs in the region – now that’s collective impact!
“Older Australians are relying on us to do this well,” Travis continued, “helping them live longer, happier, and more meaningful lives in their own homes. We genuinely look forward to this new pathway that allows us to deliver a wider range of aged care services in the future.”
