Office Furniture Disposal: Donate reusable items to Outlook

Looking for a sustainable option for office furniture disposal or clearing out surplus equipment? If your business, school or organisation is refreshing its furniture, relocating or upgrading equipment, items you no longer need could still have plenty of life left in them.

Refindit by Outlook welcomes enquiries about bulk donations of furniture and equipment in good, reusable condition. Donating suitable items helps keep valuable goods out of landfill while supporting meaningful employment, skill development and affordable shopping in local communities.

Recently, Outlook has organised collections of donated furniture and equipment from local schools, a charity that was closing down and Flemington Racecourse. Commonwealth Bank also kindly arranged delivery of donated items to its local Refindit by Outlook reuse shop.

These organisations have helped give useful items the opportunity for a second life, making reuse part of their approach to upgrades and clear outs.

We are also in discussions with a defence contractor that manages waste and recycling operations on several ADF bases. The contractor is exploring a sustainable way to move on items that are still in good condition but are being replaced.

An alternative to disposal

An office fitout, school furniture upgrade or equipment refresh can leave an organisation with a large quantity of surplus items. Before arranging disposal, it is worth considering whether they could be used by someone else.

Through Refindit by Outlook reuse shops, suitable donated items are offered for sale, helping local people, community groups and businesses access affordable preloved goods.

Our shops are much loved community spaces where people browse, find a project piece, volunteer and connect. Bulk furniture and equipment donations help keep these shops stocked while keeping useful resources in circulation.

Support your sustainability and social impact goals

Choosing to donate office furniture, school furniture or surplus equipment is a practical way to support waste reduction and reuse.

It also creates a connection with a social enterprise. Outlook provides employment, training and skill development opportunities for people experiencing barriers to employment, including people with disability.

For organisations reviewing their sustainability policies, social impact goals or approach to working with social enterprises, a bulk donation offers a practical opportunity to put those commitments into action.

Planning an office clear out, school upgrade or relocation?

Our team can assess suitability and discuss possible arrangements with you. Outlook has organised collections for recent bulk donations, and some organisations have arranged delivery themselves. Collection availability depends on the items, location and our team’s capacity. Please enquire early so we can discuss whether collection or delivery to a local shop is possible within your timeframe.

Donations like these deliver an impact well beyond simply keeping good quality items out of landfill.” Said Callum Ross, Outlook Executive for Social Enterprise. “They support reuse and recycling while creating valuable employment opportunities for people who may experience barriers to employment. Through our Refindit stores, our team members gain practical experience across receiving and assessing goods, pricing, merchandising, customer service and general retail operations. It’s a great example of environmental and social impact working hand in hand.
