On Thursday 13 March 2025, Outlook staff, together with government representatives, celebrated the grand opening of the Melton Front End Resource Recovery Centre (FERR). The centre represents stage II of upgrades and development at the Melton Recycling Facility, proudly operated by Outlook Australia. This brand-new, purpose-built facility is a game-changer for the Melton community, making it easier than ever to recycle, reuse and reduce waste before entering the main gatehouse.

The FERR is expected to deliver various benefits for the residents of Melton:
- Lower fees: Customers are encouraged to sort their load and drop off recyclable materials free of charge, before heading to the transfer station.
- Shorter wait times: The FERR is located before the entrance to the transfer station, allowing customers to skip the gatehouse and head straight to the reuse shop or recycling centre.
- Less waste to landfill: More materials diverted, leading to a cleaner, greener Melton.
- Improved shopping experience: Customers can donate or purchase pre-loved items in our brand-new reuse shop, without queuing at the gatehouse.

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the Outlook Australia team in Melton, along with City of Melton and Sustainability Victoria. Together, we’ve created a future-proofed facility designed to evolve and support the Melton community for years to come.
We invite you to visit, recycle and be part of the change! Let’s work together for a more sustainable and resource-conscious future.
Our thanks to Mayor Steve Abboushi – City of Melton, Harriet Shing MP, Steve McGhie MP, Cr. Kathy Majdlik – City of Melton, Cr Dr Phillip Zada – Mount Atkinson Ward – Melton City Council and Cr Brandi Morris – Melton City Council for being part of the grand opening event. This project truly highlights the power of collaboration across various stakeholders and levels of government, coming together to create meaningful environmental and community benefits.
