Outlook partners with City of Ballarat
Outlook Australia is expanding further into north-west Victoria, having secured the contract to operate the City of Ballarat transfer station and recycled goods shop. The news was announced in mid-September, following a competitive tender process where we emphasised our dedication to creating inclusive opportunities for priority workers, as identified by the State Government of Victoria. The priority workforce includes people with disabilities, people experiencing long-term unemployment, individuals with mental health challenges, migrant and refugee workers, and women over the age of 50.
The City of Ballarat contract will create around 12 jobs in the region. This will open pathways for priority workers to pursue fulfilling careers in the waste management, sustainability, and community services sectors.
Outlook’s purpose is to empower individuals facing disadvantage. We are committed to providing individuals with the skills and experience needed to enhance their community involvement and workforce participation. Our social enterprises across Victoria and Queensland play a central role in creating environments where people can thrive.
The City of Ballarat’s decision to partner with Outlook reflects their commitment to enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities. The partnership aligns with four of the five priorities outlined in the City’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. Outlook’s vision for the Ballarat site includes offering opportunities for work training, upskilling, supported employment, and work experience for people with disabilities and other priority groups.
“We’re looking forward to hitting the ground running in Ballarat. Outlook is committed to delivering a market-leading service to the community while generating opportunities for social impact in the region,” said Jesse Evans, Outlook’s Regional Manager for Victoria. “Partnering with the City of Ballarat to educate the community on recycling and resource recovery initiatives will help divert waste from landfill, contributing to a more sustainable future.”
Outlook has a proven track record of engaging regional communities in waste management and resource recovery, with successful operations in Central Queensland spanning the last 3.5 years. This experience, together with our well-established operations in Victoria, positions our team for success in Ballarat and surrounds. The partnership with the City of Ballarat will officially commence in January 2025.
