Outlook Australia is excited to announce a new partnership with Mackay Regional Council that will expand our commitment to sustainability, resource recovery and community engagement. This collaboration marks a significant step toward creating environmentally conscious waste management solutions for the Mackay region.
What This Partnership Includes
Starting in March 2025, Outlook will deliver two key contracts across 11 sites in the Mackay region:
- Site Control Services (Commencing March 2025):
We will oversee operations across 11 sites, ensuring environmentally safe and compliant waste management while providing exceptional customer service to Mackay residents. - Resource Recovery and Resale Shop Operations at Paget (Commencing August 2025):
Outlook will support Mackay’s goal of reducing landfill use by enhancing resource recovery efforts. Through the growth of the resale shop, currently operating at Paget Waste Management Centre, residents will be encouraged to embrace circular economy principles by reusing and repurposing goods.
This partnership will create approximately 40 local jobs in Mackay, with a focus on providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals experiencing barriers to employment. As part of our commitment to social inclusion, we aim to empower people by offering a supportive and inclusive work environment, helping them build confidence, skills, and financial independence.
Meeting the Team
To kick off this exciting new partnership, Outlook invited transitioning staff to a series of ‘town hall’ meetings, providing a great opportunity to meet the team and introduce Outlook as a social enterprise, as well our members of our senior management team, CEO Daniel Findley, Nicole Hee – Executive for People and Culture, Callum Ross – Executive for Social Enterprise and Lori Giles – Regional Manager for Queensland.
‘After learning last week that we were the successful tenderer to operate the waste management facility gatehouses and weighbridges, it was fantastic to meet so many of the team on the ground so quickly.’ Callum Ross reflected. ‘Their willingness to engage and share their experience was invaluable, and we’re grateful for the warm welcome.’

Looking Ahead
The partnership is set to run for an initial five-year term, with finalisation of contracts expected soon. This partnership aims to deliver long-term benefits to the Mackay region through sustainable waste management practices, employment opportunities for priority workforce cohorts and community-centred initiatives.
Outlook is thrilled to work with Mackay Regional Council to deliver innovative solutions that balance environmental responsibility with community growth. Together, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the region’s waste management practices while empowering residents to embrace sustainability.
Stay tuned for updates as we prepare to commence these exciting initiatives in 2025!
